The Secretariat of Social Action (SAS) is in charge of designing and implementing participative and decentralized social policies geared towards fighting poverty and vulnerability and promoting increased social equity by fostering social capital, fair economic directives, social protection and promotion.
To achieve these goals, SAS designs, leads, coordinates, executes supervises and assesses plans, programs and projects creating and strengthening effective access mechanisms to allow the poor to access benefits.
In addition, it monitors social programs and projects from the public and private industry for effective implementation by promoting a coherent and comprehensive involvement of the Government. This institution also provides follow-up services to control efficiency, focus and impact of the social investment aimed at fighting poverty within a optimization and transparency context.
The Directorate of Charity and Social Assistance (DIBEN) with the participation of other institutions promotes comprehensive programs and projects for children, teenagers, women, disabled and senior citizens at social risk, poverty and extreme poverty intended to strengthen personal, labor, economic and social livelihood.
